What should I tell my child prior to the meeting with the Child Consultant?

What should I tell my child prior to the meeting with the Child Consultant? -

When considering what to tell your child prior to meeting with the Child Consultant, less is more. In our experience too much information can confuse your child and/or increase anxiety for them leading up to the meeting.

The best approach is to explain to your child that both parents know there have been a lot of changes happening for them and that both parents have arranged for them to speak to someone called a Child Consultant about how they are going and to see if anything can be done differently to make things better for them.

To give them a sense of control, you can also tell your child that the meeting is about them and that they can make decisions to talk about whatever they do or do not want to talk about.
