We are seeking an experienced Family Lawyer (5+ years PAE) who is ready to deepen their expertise, contribute to a high-performing team and build a clear pathway toward leadership.

You will work on a broad range of parenting and property matters, including high value and commercially complex cases.
A Clear Pathway to Leadership
This role has a defined pathway to Team Leader, with early opportunities to mentor Graduates and Junior Lawyers and build leadership capability.
You will be coached and developed to refine your expertise in complex areas of Family Law.
A Structure That Supports You
As part of a broader legal services group of more than 50 people, you will be supported by experienced Team Leaders, a high-performing legal support team, and dedicated Operations, Sales & Marketing and People & Culture functions.
You will also have continuous access to guidance from highly experienced practitioners, including Accredited Specialists in Family Law and solicitors with more than 20 years’ experience in the field.
Ongoing Development
You will benefit from structured 1:1s, quarterly goal setting, regular matter reviews, continuous feedback, fortnightly Lunch & Learns, leadership training & development and support for achieving Specialist Accreditation.
About the Role
You will manage your own files from start to finish while working within a high-performing, collaborative team. You will have the support and autonomy to delegate appropriate lower-level tasks to Assistants, Paralegals and Junior Family Lawyers.
You will:
- manage a mix of parenting and property matters,
- appear in court and continue to develop your advocacy skills,
- build strong relationships with clients and referrers,
- contribute to team performance and culture,
- mentor Junior Lawyers and support their development, and
- continue to build your technical and strategic capability.
About You
This role is likely to suit you if you:
- have 5+ years of PAE in Family Law,
- can confidently manage files from initial consultation through to resolution,
- have experience in complex parenting and property matters,
- have advocacy experience and confidence in court,
- are ready to step into a more senior role with a pathway to leadership,
- value high standards and delivering excellent client outcomes, and
- are motivated to grow your career in a structured, high performing environment.

This role reports to the Operations Manager, who is responsible for operational strategy. Your focus will be ensuring office operations, workplace experience and technology run smoothly day to day, maintaining high standards and supporting practical improvements.
About the Role
- Oversee reception and maintain a high standard of client experience
- Keep the office organised, well-presented and running smoothly
- Manage facilities, suppliers, meeting rooms and workplace assets
- Support onboarding, offboarding and day-to-day administration (HRIS, leave, banking)
- Coordinate our meeting rhythm
- Provide administrative support to the leadership team
- Own workplace technology coordination — setup, troubleshooting and IT liaison
- Champion the use of technology to improve efficiency (phones, meeting rooms, workstations, Microsoft Office Suite etc)
- Resolve issues quickly to minimise disruption
- Coordinate team events and recognition initiatives
- Support practical improvements to the workplace and assist with operational projects
- Support both the Newcastle and Sydney offices (with travel to Sydney approx. once per month)
About You
You are organised, proactive and take ownership. You notice what needs attention and follow it through. You enjoy being the person others rely on. You get satisfaction from making things easier and keeping things running well. You are also an early adopter of technology and probably have tones of productivity tricks and hacks you can show us.
You will likely bring:
- Experience in office management or workplace coordination within a professional services environment (legal experience highly regarded)
- Experience in a mid-sized organisation where structure and standards matter
- Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
- Confidence managing multiple priorities
- Strong communication and relationship skills
- A practical, tech-confident mindset (setup, troubleshooting, working with IT providers)
- Experience managing employee engagement activities general events with flair and creativity
- An interest in improving how teams use technology to improve their efficiency and productivity eg. AI, automation etc
- Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills – word, teams, excel and powerpoint (ideally you have a skill for design – simplifying presentations and making them more engaging).

About the role
This is a practical, hands on legal support role working closely with experienced family lawyers.
You will help your Solicitors stay organised, prepared and focused on delivering excellent legal work and client service. Your work will include managing diaries and priorities, preparing correspondence and legal documents, assisting with matter management, liaising with clients, supporting billing and file administration, and helping ensure work moves efficiently through the team.
Our Legal Assistants are encouraged to think ahead, improve the way work is done and contribute to an exceptional client experience.
You will be supported by strong precedents, clear workflows and smart operating procedures. We are always looking for smarter ways to work, and we value Legal Assistants who bring practical ideas, strong judgement and pride in their work.
About You
You are confident, organised and proactive. You enjoy working in a professional environment where attention to detail, care and follow through matter.
You will ideally bring:
- 3 + years’ experience in a legal assistant or legal administration role within a law firm,
- experience in family law or another fast-paced litigation environment,
- strong attention to detail and organisational skills,
- confidence managing documents, diaries, client communication and workflows,
- strong technology skills and the ability to quickly learn legal systems and processes
- experience using Microsoft Office and legal practice management systems; ideally LEAP,
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and
- a calm, polished and professional approach with clients.
Most importantly, you are someone who enjoys contributing to a team, supporting Solicitors to perform at their best, and helping create an exceptional client experience.
Unfortunately, this role is not suitable for a Law Student seeking part-time hours as this is a full time role. It is also not suitable for recent law graduate, we are seeking candidates whose experience and qualifications indicate a commitment to a career as a Legal Assistant.
